Olixon atlanticum Fernández & Sarmiento-M, 2002

Olixon neotropicus Townes Nomen nudum. Nomen nudum (Extracting the scarce information on the New World Olixon from the literature we stumbled over an additional dubious species name “Olixon neotropicus” attributed to Townes (Sarmiento 2001; Sarmiento 2006) which should have been collected in the Tayrona and Utra National Parks in the north of Colombia (Sarmiento 2001). Although the ‘species’ has been considered a different species from O. atlanticum (Sarmiento 2006) it was actually some kind of working title of O. atlanticum at an early stage of its description back in 2000 (C. Sarmiento; personal communication 2011). Since it does not base on a formal description the name is not available in accordance with Article 13 of the 4th edition of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature – it is to be treated as a nomen nudum). - Sarmiento, 2001Sarmiento M., C.E. 2001.
